After being selected as a 2024 Law360 Product Liability MVP, Seeger Weiss co-founder Chris Seeger sat down with the publication to discuss his career journey and his advice to junior attorneys.

Seeger found himself entering the product liability world after he “couldn’t connect” with corporate law. His first personal injury case changed everything for him.

“I fell in love with my clients and fell in love with the white knight aspect of it,” he told Law360. “I love the fact that my clients and I are partners in the sense that we share the upside if there’s a good outcome and the downside.”

Seeger had an incredible year, securing multiple major settlements in the Philips CPAP Litigation including a historic $1.1 billion personal injury and medical monitoring settlement and over $500 million for economic loss claims stemming from the recall. Additionally, Seeger obtained $425 million for plaintiffs in the Proton-Pump Inhibitor Litigation.

But no achievement was more significant than his orchestration of the landmark 3M Combat Arms Earplugs Litigation settlement, which provided more than $6 billion to hundreds of thousands of service members and veterans who suffered hearing injuries while using 3M earplugs, marking one of the largest mass torts in history.

“[The 3M Combat Arms Earplug Settlement] would have to be up there on my list of achievements and things I’m proud of, even over the past 30 years,” Seeger told Law360.

When asked to provide advice to younger attorneys, Seeger said they should strive to “make an impact” wherever they practice law.

“I want you as a junior lawyer to show what you got. Go out and win a trial. Win a motion. Write a great brief. That’s how you get recognized.”
